University Leadership Must Deliver Contractual Obligations to Workers
LONG BEACH, Calif., Sept. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Teamsters Local 2010, the California Faculty Association (CFA), the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU), and other unions that collectively represent 80,000 workers at California State University (CSU) will rally during the university's board of trustees meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 9, to demand CSU pay workers what they are contractually owed.
Despite receiving full funding in the 2025 state budget, CSU notified the labor unions representing university workers that they will not be able to provide the salary step increases and cost-of-living adjustments agreed upon in their respective collective bargaining agreements. To address these issues, the State of California has offered CSU a no interest short-term loan to meet the full state funding required to restore premature job cuts, fund instruction, and pay the promised contractual raises and salary steps, which is supported by workers and their unions.
Teamsters Local 2010, CFA, and CSUEU have filed grievances and unfair labor practice charges against CSU for their failure to bargain in good faith and refusal to pay employees raises and salary steps that were agreed to in their respective collective bargaining agreements.
